Shalom Institute 2013 Gala
Reliving Memories and Making New Ones Possible
Thursday, December 5 at 6:00 pm
Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles
Camp Memories are special. A photo from a summer at camp takes you back in time to that magical place. Capture that feeling of nostalgia at this year’s Gala! It will be a “Throwback Thursday” kind of evening as we celebrate emerging young leaders on Thursday, December 5, 6:00pm, at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles.
Each of this year’s honorees is a Camp JCA Shalom Alum making significant contributions to the community or their profession, and demonstrates exceptional leadership in support of Shalom institute, Camp JCA Shalom, and the Jewish community.
Jennifer D. Rheuban is receiving the prestigious Trailblazer Award for her vision and leadership not only as a Shalom Institute Board Member, but in creating Adult Color Wars which supports Camp JCA Shalom camperships, and in other areas of the Jewish community. Barri Worth Girvan is receiving the Emerging Young Leaders Award for her outstanding achievements in public service in the Los Angeles and Jewish communities. To read more about Barri, click here.
Jacob Knobel is receiving the Emerging Young Leaders Award for his outstanding achievements in technology, and support of Shalom Institute’s technological infrastructure. To read more about Jacob, click here.
The Gala 2013 Committee and Honorary Committee invite you to join us in honoring these three exceptional young leaders with your support of the Gala, either by attending, making a donation, purchasing a tribute ad, and/or Raffle ticket – the grand prize is a 7-night stay in a luxury vacation home – the winner gets to choose from various locations. In the spirit of developing emerging leaders, at 8:30 pm we are re-opening the gala doors to Camp JCA Alumni and friends in their 20s and 30s to join us for dessert and dancing to the nostalgic sounds of TaylorMade: The James Taylor Tribute Band, and DJ Mikey B: camper/counselor and resident camp dance DJ circa the early ’90s. Gala sponsors and dinner guests are encouraged to stay through the concert for an auditory trip down memory lane.
